Student Blog: What is it Like to Have Dyslexia

By: Hannah Tarkington

I was diagnosed with dyslexia when I was in first grade. I went to a public school, and I had a bunch of anxiety about school. Going to school would make me feel really sick to my stomach. When I was in second grade, I started home school and went to HCA coop, and I got a dyslexia reading tutor. Some things I wish people knew about dyslexia is that the words don’t move around on a page, and sometimes you just forget how to spell the easiest words. I do not like reading out loud in class or church because it just gives me anxiety. If you have dyslexia, do not give up! It will get easier.
